 周一“華爾街郵報”上發(fā)表的有關(guān)Windows 7 Starter版本三個程序限制的文章引起了公眾的廣泛關(guān)注�；蛟S是為了安撫一下用戶的情緒，微軟就此事特地解釋了一番，微軟發(fā)言人稱并不是說所有的Netbook只能運行Windows 7 Starter版本，OEM廠商可以選擇不預(yù)裝此款有限制的Windows 7版本。

“所有Windows 7的版本都可以在Netbooks上流暢運行，也就是說Netbook較低的硬件配置并不會影響Windows 7版本的功能。微軟只是想通過Windows 7 Starter向公眾介紹一款較小版本的系統(tǒng)，但又不失舒服的界面、更快的開關(guān)機速度、改進型電源管理、更長的電池壽命、增強型媒體支持以及超強的安全性可靠性和穩(wěn)定性。”

今年2月，微軟宣布Windows 7 Starter版本只會在發(fā)達國家市場通過零售渠道銷售，而對于發(fā)展中國家市場，對應(yīng)的版本為Windows 7 Home Basic。

“我們已經(jīng)對Windows 7進行了大量的改進，目前而言，這些改進已經(jīng)足夠使所有Windows 7版本都得以在Netbooks上流暢運行。用戶可以任意選擇他們想要的版本。如果對Starter版本不滿意，用戶完全可以選擇Windows 7 Home Premium。”
